Goodbye to the Rest and Be Thankful Inn

Davidson Webber LLP has advised the family shareholders on the disposal of the Rest & Be Thankful hotel, pub and restaurant in Somerset for an undisclosed seven figure sum to a private buyer. The Taunton office of national firm Ashfords acted for the buyer.

Rebekah Fozard of Davidson Webber who lead the transaction commented “the sale was slightly unusual in that there were two vendors, one of which owned the freehold property and the other which owned the trading business and assets.” “There was also a related property purchase of the vendors which needed to be completed simultaneously with the sale of the hotel which meant we had to complete the sale of one to finance the purchase of another the same day. Running the two deals in parallel and sorting out the various funding issues on each was a challenge but exciting” she added
