Major property transactions for household hotel groups
January 2006
Commercial solicitors Davidson Webber has advised on the sale of a £2.75 million portfolio of hotels, purchased by AIM listed Peel Hotels plc. The hotels, which comprise the Crown & Mitre, Carlisle, the Strathdon, Nottingham, the King Malcolm, Dunfermline and the Golden Lion in Leeds, employ almost 150 staff who will be taken on by Peel Hotels plc as part of the deal. A team comprising London based Sabretooth Law and McPhersons in Winchester acted for the purchaser. Also the firm recently completed the new lease of the Selfridge Hotel in London on behalf of the Thistle Hotels Group. Russell Davidson said: “We are pleased to have played a major role in hotel acquisitions and disposals to the value of over £100 million over the past three years, having advised on the sale of the Merrion Hotel in Leeds earlier this year.”
