£8M hat trick of deals for Davidson Webber

Harrogate-based commercial law firm, Davidson Webber LLP, has completed a hat trick of deals across the UK with an aggregate value in excess of £8million in one week.

The niche, six-strong firm has advised luxury hotel group Hand Picked Hotels on the a multi-million pound £6.2m sale of Mollington Banastre Hotel and Leisure Spa in Chester to Brook Hotels Limited – owners of Leeds’ Merrion and Huddersfield’s George Hotel represented by Halliwells in Manchester

In the second deal, Neil May, MD of Harrogate-based Preferred One Stop Technologies Limited has bought-out his co co-shareholders in a deal valued at £1.6M. Davidson Webber worked alongside Teresa Florentino of Haines Watts Accountants in Leeds – who provided corporate finance and tax advice to Mr May, Addleshaw Goddard – who represented the financiers, RBS Invoice Finance Ltd – and Leeds based Lee and Priestley acted for the outgoing sellers.

Davidson Webber also acted for software designer Kypera Ltd, which has rescued Harkins & Anderson – a Scottish software solutions provider – from administration. Saving jobs and a significant number of valuable customer contracts, the deal was completed in under a week. Leeds based Walker Morris acted for the administrator Mike Keinlen of Armstrong Watson Accountants in Leeds.

Neil Large, corporate partner at Davidson Webber – whose lawyers all hail from national and international firms – commented, “All of these deals were completed in tight timeframes – in fact we even nicknamed the Kypera turnaround “Project Quick” because having received the instruction late Thursday afternoon we closed the deal within 3 working days by the following Wednesday.” “It is also demonstrates that you do not need to be with a large commercial law firm in the major cities to attract good quality corporate work, If you have the correct positioning and top class lawyers with the right expertise there are significant benefits available to clients with a provincial commercial firm” he added
