DW appoints IT and IP specialist
April 2006
Harrogate-based commercial law specialist, Davidson Webber LLP is marking further expansion with the appointment of Lucas Bateman as a consultant. Mr Bateman, who trained as a specialist patent barrister, has worked for national firms Pinsent Masons and Cobbetts, and taken on in-house roles with video surveillance specialist COE Group Plc and Northern Foods Plc. He has advised FTSE companies, public bodies and technology start-ups on wide ranging issues relating to technology law – as well as conducting a number of major intellectual property disputes in the UK and abroad. He said: “Davidson Webber attracted me as a young and vibrant law firm with a fresh approach to the delivery of legal services and where every lawyer has trained and worked at the highest levels. It is great to join a new business with a real entrepreneurial buzz about it and is rapidly gaining recognition as a credible alternative to the large law practices in Leeds and attracting clients from London and the other commercial centres.” Said Russell Davidson, managing partner: “Lucas’s expertise enables us to extend further our range of services. Lucas has unique experience in working with FTSE companies in the High Court and beyond to enforce their rights but also has a real skill and enthusiasm for helping start-ups maximise their potential. His in-house experience also means he can provide real commercial solutions to day-to-day legal problems from personal experience.”
